John Hillyer

John Hillyer was hooked on woodcarving as soon as he received his first Boy Scout merit badge in carving 1938. Since that time, he has had plenty of time to build upon his carving skills. He has been teaching woodcarving for over 15 years, and was juried into the Southern Highland Craft Guild in woodcarving in 1984. John currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina.
