Helen Baldwin, originally from Fort Worth, Texas, currently lives in the rural mountains of North Carolina with her husband, Randy, and their two teenagers, Matthew and Katie, with Jeffrey's spirited presence everywhere. Of course, life would be too sane without two dogs, a cat, whatever lives in the pond, and the wildlife that renders life particularly interesting! They are so enthralled with mountain living in this magnificently inspirational area, they have added a small rental cabin so others can enjoy it, too! Helen is the daughter of a retired elementary school principal (Elton Derden) and a retired piano teacher (JoAnn). Her brother, Paul, is a physician who has helped form Crossroads, a mobile medical unit for underserved families in the rural crannies of Virginia and who is married to a nurse-turned-professional-volunteer, Jaymie. Randy is a high school teacher and football coach. Not surprisingly, in this family of educators and caring social servants, Helen taught orthopedically and multi-handicapped young students in Columbia, SC, for several years before retiring to 'just' being a mom (and everything else). Helen has written newsletters for the family's Mountain View Lodge (located on the spectacular Blue Ridge Parkway), occasional letters to the editor(!), and Tips for Making Music Fun & Easy!, a collaborative effort with her mother, JoAnn. This is her first solo book. See less
