Elyne Mitchell
Elyne Mitchell (1913-2002) is Australia's much-loved author of the Silver Brumby series. Married to lawyer, and later parliamentarian, Thomas Walter Mitchell, she lived with their four children in the mountains. She was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to literature in 1988 and later an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from Charles Sturt University in 1993.
