Alice Mead is an artist, teacher, and grandmother of three. For forty years she raised her family on the coast of Maine. Since 1994 and a diagnosis of CFIDS and dysautonomia, she published with Farrar, Straus and Giroux, with a passion for the millions of modern children caught in decades of warfare, immigration and poverty. Probably her best known book is Junebug about a resilient ten year old growing up in the projects of New Haven, CT. She has recently reissued Giants of the Dawnland, Wabanaki tales for children. In 2015, she left Maine, moved to Maryland to be closer to her family and grandchildren. See less
