Even halfway through the book I was wondering why he wrote it, besides the obvious journal-to-help-himself-get-through-it reasons. It may be more helpful to others for him to tell his story in person as he does on the lecture circuit. Evan Handler has a clip on YouTube. Lukemia is a nightmare for anyone to have to face for so long and at such a young age. The main message seems to be that it is possible to survive and overcome the odds in such devastating circumstances. Reading about it in such personal terms, with details and thoughts every step of the way is very disturbing. Mr. Handler is an extraordinary person and a talented writer. The subject matter is deep, gritty and inspiring. You should be read it to let you know fortunate you already are, not so much to be entertained. Just be prepared.
