None. Very Good. The three volume third edition of the works of noted painter Joshua Reynolds, here with a life of the painter by his friend Edmond Malone. The third edition of this work, complete in three volumes. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece to volume I. Joshua Reynolds was a celebrated eighteenth century painter, who painted in the 'Grand Style', with depended on the idealisation of the imperfect. He was also founder and first President of the Royal Academy of Arts. Reynolds was known for specialising in portraits, painting portraits of the Navy officer Lord Keppel, and the Royal Army officer, Lord Heathfield. This work contains Joshua Reynolds' writings on art. With a half title to each volume. With a life written by Edmond Malone, who was one of the executors of Reynolds' will. With the bookplate of British politician Sir Thomas Dyke Acland 'T. D. Acland, 1807', to each front pastedown. In full calf bindings. Significant rubbing to back strips and board perimeters, with scorch mark to volume I back strip tail. Head and tail of volume I rear joint starting, with boards firmly held. Tail of volume II front joint starting, with board firmly held, and a touch of worming to front joint heads of volumes II and III. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, otherwise clean and bright. Very Good.
