I love this book. I read another one first and then began my search for Elizabeth Musser's other books. Well written, she makes your feel like the characters are your friends, and if not friends, real, living people, just like the ones you are friends with. As I was in my teens in the 1960's and only aware of me it was very interesting to read of that time period and gain insight into some of the politics and events that were unfolding unnoticed by me then. I bought this book to give to my daughter, as I felt what was the kernal of the story, was relevent to all age groups. It was not just an interesting story, but a story that could in fact, effect ones life - it's decisions, choices and viewpoint. There was a previous review which also spoke perfectly about the book so if you read this, be sure to read it also. Galilee

Enchanting!
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a whimsy, deep, and beautiful book. Although this book does not have a whole lot of thrilling suspense or romance, it still keeps you guessing and has the sweet enchanted type of love. It does include a mystery, and some tear-jerkers. I have not read a book so well written in a long time -the author really knows how to weave a story so that you never get bored. One thing that I liked about this book is that it would imply one thing and then something entirely different would happen. Although not boring in the least, you've got to be patient...and wait for the whole picture. Dealing a lot with art and racism in the 1960's, it truly inspired me to get out there, paint, and treat everyone (no matter who) with love. The ending will give you satisfaction, but I suggest to go back and read the prologue after you?ve finished it. The whole aura of the book is beautiful and pleasant -it takes you to an entirely different world!
