The Prince Who Loved Me by Karen Hawkins is a delightful play on Cinderella. There is a stepmother, stepsisters, and of course a new pair of shoes, however with this version, the reader should expect the unexpected. Unlike the fairy tale, the heroine, Bronwyn, is a strong, independent character who chooses not to wait on a fairy godmother to decide her future which makes her counterpart, Alexsey, a perfect match for her.
We also see a returning character from Karen's wonderful series, The Duchess Diaries, that provides even more entertainment and insight into the hero's life. There are many twists and turns in this novel, but also plenty of humor.
The only critique that I could make about this book, is the secondary romance that is presented. I would have liked to see more interaction between these two characters. However, that being said, there are many surprises with all the characters that make this book definitely worth buying!
