I had read several varying reviews of this book, prior to buying it, and more of them were negative then positive. However, I had initally read a reveiw of it in my local newspaper and was determined to read it and man was I glad I did so.
Based in Ireland with many Irish related language, which I had to look up lol. One of the best Irish traits is to love to tell a good yarn and make up stuff as you go. I loved the way this story kept to that idea and it was brought up as part of the novel itself. At first there are snipets of some humor but towards the end the whole situation the characters are in become hilarious and just plain fun. I could see how some would say it isn't funny but it really is. I was reminded of some of my elderly and interesting relatives and also the love of the land, which is also a strong Irish trait. It has the taste of a mystery but in many ways it really isn't a true mystery, but a good and fun read. It was also endearing how the characters really had a soft heart for each other but shoot to show that lol, would be horrible, (sarcasm)
Don't let those neg criticisms keep you from reading this book. It was a fast read for me, and kept me buried in another world which hey, what a good book is all about!!! Loved the pig! They are smart by the way and can be stubborn because they are smart.
