Everybody knows one, either at work or a neighbor or your uncle Joe. You cannot go through life without experiencing an a**hole. Bob Sutton's book not only describes the various forms of a**hole but also gives some tips on dealing with them. They do not only affect the people they happen to be abusing at the time but innocent bystanders are hurt in the process, too. He tells how a**holes can destroy an office environment and even a company. He also includes a test to see if you are one (he says we all are at one point or another, the difference is between temporary and permanent a**holes). He uses ancedotes sent to him by people after he wrote an article for the Harvard Business Review with the same name. Most are just hilarious because I have been there with some of my old bosses. Some are sad, too, as they describe people who are just mean. I showed it too my boss, who is not one, by the way, and told him this should be required reading for the company. Great book! Get it if for nothing else but to use as a coping mechanism or to make sure you don't turn into one yourself.
