There is no disharmony, but perfect accord between these two revelations of God when both are properly studied and understood. For ages, men have been trying to get along without God. The collapse of all their philosophies, and the wonderful revelations of modern Nature studies have exhibited in a glaring light the impossibility of living a moment without the immediate and direct aid of an infinite Power, whom we recognize as God. "New Thought" philosophers, having recognized the folly of attempting to get along without God, are now committing an error equally great in endeavoring to get along without the Bible. The Bible gives us a conception of God and his relations to man, and.of man's duty toward him, such as man with his dwarfed and perverted faculties can not possibly derive from the study of Nature alone. The old thought of orthodoxy was that God made things in the beginning, then left Nature to take care of herself, --to create, to maintain, to qarry forward all the operations of life and being without the direct aid or interference of God, except on special occasions; in emergencies, so to speak. Thus, Nature was made, in a certain sense, a deity.
