Brief and very clear overview of the French Revolution

A superb book on the French Revolution
This is a superb book written by an eminent historian, on events that shaped 19th and 20th century world history, and about which we should all learn. The book is objective and factual, clearly and beautifully written, and I found it almost impossible to put the book down once started. The account of events is mesmorising. The evil and horror that overtook a great European nation, the mindless murder of tens of thousands of ordinary citizens - particularly Catholic priests and religious and ordinary Catholic lay people, the wanton destruction and pillage of Catholic churches, monasteries, and schools, and the essential political, social, and moral self-destruction of a once powerful and God-fearing nation, is unbelievable - but has to be believed. Read this book and ponder!
