Christ, author or co-author of more than forty books in the fields of language, literature, and composition, has had a long and varied career as writer, editor, teacher, and supervisor of teachers. He has been Secretary of the Association of Chairmen in New York City Schools, Vice-President of the New York State English Council, and Director of the National Council of Teachers of English. He has been a speaker in conventions and workshops throughout the United States, a lecturer on educational television, and a frequent participant in curriculum development and evaluation. For the New York State Education Department he has been a test consultant and a member of various committees on examinations. Frequently represented in national education periodicals, he was also editor of the magazine High Points for nearly ten years. Marie E. Christ has worked closely with her husband throughout his career as writer and teacher. She has provided needed research and has played a major role in the preparation and production of the various texts. She contributed significantly to the creation of Short World Biographies.
