I read this when I was in 5th grade. I loved it then, and still love it at the age of 53, when I'm more able to appreciate the plot threads that draw together a modern mystery and the witch trials of the 17th century. I passed it along to my daughter (another history buff) some years back, and she loved it, too, but you don't have to be a historian to like this one! Strong characters, a good plot, and excellent writing.
