In a good only dust jacket, heavily trimmed along the top and bottom edges, with some chips, creases, and stains. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Anderson on the front free endpaper in a contemporary hand: "To Irene [Luvia? ] Kenney with most kind regards and an apology for the delay. Marian Anderson." Anderson was a pioneering opera singer, who was the first African-American to sing with the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Throughout her career, she was vocal in defense of civil rights and integration.
