One of the greatest difficulties has been to bring into reasonable correctness the great number of proper names. Names with old and new forms, names with British and foreign spelling, names with titles and ranks always hard to appreciate and changing from time to time, present difficulties which only those who have tried to reconcile them can justly estimate.
