I think this book is a fun way for girls to learn more abaut america's history. I have read it and I found it very enjoyable. Girls can really relate to Kit. But I don't think it quite makes it out how terrible the depresion was. Though I think that is good. Because it may scare children, especially since we are going through something simular to the great depresion today.
