Visiting a small publishing company in Suffolk, UK, in the late 70s, I was intrigue by one of their current books - a collection of Kaleidocycles based on the work of Dutch artist M.C.Escher. From a sheet of thin card, a pair of scissors and a little glue. I made solid models which fascinated my young daughters for many years. All these years later I was amazed to find copies of this book on Alibris, this time for my grandchildren.
The more you try to describe Kaleidocycles, the less appealing they sound...description becomes a mass of confusing mathematical mumbo-jumbo rather than an intriguing toy made from paper, beautifully illustrated with clever, complex designs by the quirky artist, Escher.
