This is a wonderful collection of letters written by the author to his 90-year-old friend based in India. She was Jewish and had requested the author to recommend a short history of the Jews. Instead, he decided to write it for her, in letter form, week by week. Each letter touched on different aspects of Jewish history. I learned a lot of Jewish history from these wonderful letters. It must have been wonderful to receive such letters weekly. The last letter was received when she was age 92. I found this book in a second -hand bookstore in Sydney last Dec 2006.
