It has already been told how the corpse of King Eadward Corfe from the Castle Gate. the Martyr was carried in time to Wareham, and later to the hill town of Shaftesbury (pages 2 and 154). The church of Corfe dedicated to the murdered King stands nigh to the spot where the cottage was.
