Well, this one was graphic! And I'm not quite sure that it needed to be to the extent that it was. I still would have gotten the same creepy vibes if things had been toned down a bit. I did figure out the killer well ahead of the reveal which was a little disappointing. I liked the police procedural aspect; however, the gratuitous areas dampened my overall excitement. The characters were pretty unlikeable and not in the fun love-to-hate them kind of way. I'm sure there's an audience that will better enjoy this book. I do have another of Nichols' novels, The Rocks, on my shelf which I plan to read at some point.
