Los anotadores y co mentadores de la famosa novela de Cervantes expli caron lo que entendieron ??? creyeron entender; pero justo es decir que los m???s de ellos entendieron mal muchas cosas, unas veces por no haber leido ni res tituido bien el texto, estragado y mendoso en cien lugares desde sus primeras ediciones, y otras, por no tener toda la lectura necesaria para darse buena cuenta de tantas palabras y giros desusados hoy, de tantas alusiones a personas y costumbres de anta???o y de tantos rec???nditos pormenores, en fin, como se contienen y salen en sus p???ginas. Y aun otro pecado cometieron, que nolpor consistir en omisi???n deja de merecer bien agria censura: casi todos hicieron la vista gorda en lo tocante ??? las fra-ses y conceptos que no acertaban ??? explicar, y pasaron sobre ellos bonita mente, como - sobre ascuas, sin decir oxte ni moxte, afectando conocerlos de m???s y no querer gastar tiem po ni tinta en exponer cosas mollares y patentes.
