G (Moderate wear to binding and boards; title block may be worn away in parts; ex-art library with label and bookplate and few marks; pages are aging only slightly. ) Brown paper boards with siena cloth spine, tan paper title block on spine. 112 pp + 30 bw plates. "The pressed clay bowls with red glaze marks made at Arretium (modern Arezzo) and therefore known as Arretine ware, are of interest primarily because they reproduce designs from the charming repousse silver bowls of Hellenistic workmanship. (preface) This is the catalogue of the pieces. Includes an introduction and three separate class listings for pottery, which range, in their subcategories, from figures of divinities to cupids to masks to plain vases, with all manner of variation between. Information is provided on the major potters and the slaves employed in their factories, as well.
