Relatively Regal
From Egbert to Elizabeth II, Britain's monarchs all had ancestry and progeny. Alison Weir's useful compendium of genealogy identifies each monarch's parents, children, grandchildren and spouses, and also includes, when possible, places of birth, death and marriage. It is fascinating to discover how various royal persons married into which noble houses. It certainly makes clear the sort of family politics operating just underneath international concerns in the Middle Ages! History students of all sorts will find this volume carefully researched and well organized for easy access to all sorts of answers to all sorts of queries. Ms. Weir has clearly done a staggering amount of research to amass this information and has then presented it in a clear, lucid style. Anyone with an interest in British History should thank her sincerely.
