Sargon II letter to the god Assur describing the 8th campaign is an important source about the Urartians and the Assyrian warfare during the late 8th century BC. In this study the emphasis lays on the edition and translation; additionally an analysis of the contents is given. A special chapter is devoted to the list of the booty from Musasir. At the end extensive lists of all words and names enable further research. The second part of the volume is published in winter 2013. It discuss the Urartian-Assyrian bilingual texts.
