The controversy that surrounded him all summer is coming back to school as well. A group of conservative parents have been trying to whip the PTA into a frenzy over the "gay teachers in the school system" and are trying to use the upcoming elections to take control of the PTA. But no one expects murder. When a prominent member of the conservative group is found murdered in the school library, one of Tom's closest friends and allies is arrested for the crime. Sure that she is innocent and that the police aren't doing enough to find the real killer, Tom decides to do a bit of snooping himself.
