Reading this work gave me a feeling of 'deja vu all over again'. The author writes on a number of topics all concerned with the "Roaring Twenties," from Prohibition to the 1929 stock market crash. The post World War I era saw changes in many facets of life. New trends in writing, music and art exhibited a devil may care attitude among many. Hollywood came into its own, jazz and blues became the beat of the younger generation. Industries grew as farm and small town youth moved to the cities. People borrowed money to invest in the stock market. Sports figures were also entertainers. Fashions changed. However, along came 1929 when the bubble burst and those who had borrowed could not pay back loans. Rather than go through the analogies one can draw, I suggest that one reads this book and draw their own conclusions and analogies.

The Twenties Returned
Booklovers who enjoy reading about the 1920's will certainly enjoy this book. Written by a British author, it offers a different perspective and a wide range of people and events, which are not usually included in books of that era. It is a smooth, fun read, but not trifling. You'll like it.
